Depending on how confident and fit a cyclist you are, there are a range of destinations that can be accessed by bike from Hampton Gardens.
A cycle ride into Churwell will take you less than 10 minutes. Here, you will find a range of amenities such as pubs, cafes, a pharmacy, doctors surgery and convenience store. You will also find Churwell Primary School and a number of nurseries.
White Rose Shopping Centre and Office Park can be accessed in less than 15 minutes. The shopping centre has over 100 stores and plenty of cycle parking available, with shower facilities available for visitors.
Leeds city centre can be reached in around 20 minutes, where you’ll find all of the destinations you can expect is a busy city centre, including Leeds Train Station. When you consider traffic and the time it can take to park, it may be quicker to cycle than drive into the city centre, especially during rush hour!
Many local roads are lightly trafficked, with the West Yorkshire cycle map (see more below) providing an easy way to identify the most suitable routes.
If you fancy a longer bike ride National Cycle Routes 66 and 67 can be reached within 30 minutes. Both routes have on and off-road sections, but they mainly follow the Leeds / Liverpool Canal. The routes provide links to Bradford in the north west and Wakefield in the south.

Planning a Journey by Bike
If you are unfamiliar with the local area and looking to plan a route by bike, an online route planner can be a really useful tool to use. You can enter your journey start point and end point and the route planner will display a number of route options on a handy map. Alongside easy to follow directions it will tell you how far the journey is, how long it will take, and even how hilly it is.
The West Yorkshire Interactive Cycle Map shows Leeds comprehensive network of cycle routes but when used in combination with the City Connect Journey Planner also allows you to plan your journey from A to B. Simply enter your start and finish points and away you go!
